English is one of the 3 most commonly spoken languages in South Africa. It is used as a medium to cross linguistic and cultural barriers, where people tend to default to English when they are communicating with someone who doesn’t speak or understand their mother tongue. Since South Africa has 12 official languages, it only makes sense to choose an English medium primary school in Pretoria North for your child.
Why Should I Choose an English Medium Primary Education for My Child?
- Global Lingua Franca: English is the primary international language for business, science, technology, and diplomacy. By choosing an English medium primary school education, you will set your child up for success, no matter where they choose to go in life. With such an early advantage, English will be part of their daily communication structure, exposing them to the language of choice within various professional sectors.
- Academic Transitions: Going from primary school to secondary and tertiary education, your child is likely to be educated in English as well. By setting a foundation in English, they will have no problem with the academic transition to higher education. This will give them a solid reference to comprehending various academic, scientific, and mathematic terms that are required for secondary and tertiary education.
- Access to Wider Educational Resources: Most additional educational resources are written or presented in English. By establishing an English medium foundation for your child, they can reap the benefits of comprehending these sources and using them during their primary school years already. This will also work towards a better comprehension of the current digital landscape, where social media platforms and content creators prefer English as their language of choice.
- Enhanced Career Mobility: By developing a natural fluency in English, your child can excel in various career paths down the line. Bilingual and multilingual paths open when you are fluent in the one language that everyone chooses to speak around the world. Moreover, having confidence as an English speaker will give your child the means to communicate freely, without having to “find the right words” or “stuttering” because of a lack of English vocabulary.
