English serves as the lingua franca of modern industries and the professional work environment. English creates a bridge across various cultural and lingual gaps, which is why most people who live in Pretoria can speak English as their second language. Therefore, choosing an English medium primary school in Pretoria North is a good idea for your child going into 2027. Today, we elaborate on this crucial subject, and why you should consider Assumption Convent Primary School for your child.

Why Is It a Good Idea for My Child to Attend an English Medium Primary School?

• Becoming Fluent in a Second Language: Although newer generations have seemed to find a way to bridge this lingual gap, some still have an upbringing of only being exposed to their home language. This is a big drawback, especially when they enter the professional world as adults and cannot fluently speak English. By choosing an English medium primary school for your child, you will give them the confidence that they need in English to be successful in life, not having to scramble for the right words within a professional setting.
• Educational Content and Resources: We live in a time where access to information is almost a human right, with the internet and social media platforms spewing any and all information at us all the time. The internet speaks English and would rarely accommodate you in any other language, especially when it comes to academic and educational resources. By exposing your child to an English medium education, they will have a better comprehension of such resources and will be able to learn more efficiently when using the internet as a source for their research.

• Seamless Transition to Secondary and Tertiary Education: Some high schools may still offer education in your child’s home language. However, when it comes to tertiary education, your child must be fluent in English to succeed on this level. This rings true for scientific and mathematic education as well, where it is better to be familiar with the English terms for these subjects as opposed to constantly having to translate various terms and names from their home language to English.
